C&O K6 Mikado #1072 (former PM MK-6 #1097, nee Erie N1 #3068) in the dead line at Wyoming Yard in 1949.
This locomotive was purchased, along with four sisters, from the Erie in 1929. They arrived pulling Vanderbilt tenders, which were replaced with more typical rectangular tenders fairly quickly. The Vanderbilt tenders were transferred to maintenance-of-way service. The Mikados were assigned to class MK-6. Following the C&O merger, the MK-6s were reassigned to C&O class K6. They were all scrapped in July, 1949
