About Pere Marquette Employees

Updated: 07-AUG-2021

Since one of the goals of the PMHS is to preserve the memories of former Pere Marquette employees, we currently do so through the pages of our publications, PM Tracks the PMHS newsletter. These articles are prepared by historians and by former PM and C&O employees who recount episodes from their employment with the railroad. Articles we have run in past issues of these publications are listed on this Web site on the PMHS Publications page.

We regret that at this time, the PMHS is unable to provide information on specific PM employees, as we do not possess any of the PM's employment records. As these were generally considered to be confidential, very few railroad historical societies have access to this sort of information.

The best source we can recommend is the U.S. Railroad Retirement Board, which you can contact at 844 North Rush Street, Chicago, IL 60611 (312)751-4500. They also have a Web page at http://www.rrb.gov/geneal.html.

Two other possible sources of information on PM employees are the original PM employee publications PM Rails and Tracks. Copies of these publications, which were issued monthly until the late 1940s, can occasionally be found at railroadiana sales, used book stores, and at shops catering to railroad enthusiasts.
